The Basics of Military Time
Military time, also known as 24-hour time, is the way that time is expressed in most countries by the military, emergency services, and other organizations. Unlike standard AM/PM time which uses a 12-hour cycle for numbering hours of the day with AM indicating midnight to noon and PM indicating noon to midnight, military time uses a 24-hour clock. This means that each hour of the day is numbered from 00-23.
The Benefits of Using Military Time
There are several benefits to using military time which include:
Clarity and Precision:
Using a 24-hour clock eliminates any confusion between AM and PM, making it easier to organize schedules efficiently.
Standardization:
Military Time allows for easier coordination within international organizations or across different departments or shifts.
Unambiguity:
The use of universal terminology such as 'Zero hundred' (instead of '12:00 Midnight') eliminates any misinterpretation which may occur due to language barriers.
